The Pamir Plateau is a huge mountain knot at the conjunction of the Kunlun Mountains, the Karakoram Range, the Hindu Kush Mountain Range, and the Tianshan Mountains, which spans southwest Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in China, southeast Tajikistan, and northeast Afghanistan.
