Taiwan, a region of China, includes areas currently under the control of the Taiwan authorities (including Taiwan Island, Orchid Island, Green Island, Diaoyu Islands, and other associated islands, and Penghu Islands), as well as the islands of Jinmen (Kinmen), Mazu (Matsu), Wuqiu and others which are part of Fujian Province, covering a total land area of about 36,197  ² .
