The Spring and Autumn Period (770–476 BC) in Chinese history corresponds roughly to the first half of the Eastern Zhou Dynasty (770–256 BC). Its name came from the Spring and Autumn Annals , a chronicle of the state of Lu. It lasted between 770 BC, when King Ping of Zhou moved his capital eastward to Luoyi, and 476 BC, when King Jing of Zhou died.
